While the United States sits on trillions of dollars of debt and in the wake of news that the S&P has downgraded its outlook on U.S. federal debt, 10 U.S. senators are on an excursion to China.

The group, led by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Illinois Senator and Democratic Party Whip Dick Durbin, landed in China on Monday for a week-long trip which will include stops in some of the country's swankiest cities, including Hong Kong and Beijing.

According to a Senate news release, the Senators taking part in the "informational trip" will discuss such matters as the global economy, security, trade, currency and foreign policy.

Also along for the ride? The senators spouses.

Yesterday on NBC News, Andrea Mitchell asked Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus, D-Mont., why he’s opposed to Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform proposal, and what followed was a stunning display for a public official on any level. Baucus actually claimed Ryan’s reform "essentially ends Medicare." The senator’s answer to how he’d reform the bankrupt program? "We have to be more balanced and fair instead of unbalanced and unfair, which is his approach." When pressed for specifics, Baucus said, "Keep the current Medicare program and make it a lot better." The senator finally came around to a third solution: "We have to reform health care … there’s so much waste."

ANOTHER DEMOCRAT LIE: Harry Reid Was Wrong: CBO Says Social Security Running Permanent Deficit

It looks like Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) was wrong. New congressional projects released today show Social Security’s finances are getting worse as the economy struggles to recover and millions of baby boomers stand at the brink of retirement, in stark contrast to recent comments made by the Senate Minority Leader.

Those projections specifically show Social Security running deficits every year until its trust funds are eventually drained in about 2037.

This year alone, Social Security is projected to collect $45 billion less in payroll taxes than it pays out in retirement, disability and survivor benefits, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday. That figure swells to $130 billion when a new one-year cut in payroll taxes is included, though Congress has promised to repay any lost revenue from the tax cut. Social Security will post nearly $600 billion in deficits over the next decade

The massive retirement program has been feeling the effects of a struggling economy for several years. The program first went into deficit last year – the first deficit since it was last overhauled in the 1980s. But CBO said last year that Social Security would post surpluses for a few more years before permanently slipping into deficits in 2016.

The outlook, however, has grown bleaker as the nation struggles to recover from its worst economic crisis since Social Security was enacted during the Great Depression. In the short term, Social Security is suffering from a weak economy that has payroll taxes lagging and applications for benefits rising. In the long term, Social Security will be strained by the growing number of baby boomers retiring and applying for benefits.

The Vermont senator, a self-proclaimed socialist who caucuses with the Democratic Party, cited past acts of vandalism at Rep. Gabrielle Giffords‘ district office after last year’s health care overhaul vote, as well as Sarah Palin’s now-infamous “crosshairs” map.

Preparing for a final showdown on the massive $1.1 trillion spending bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid defended the thousands of earmarks in the measure as the basic function of Congress.

“That’s our job. That‘s what we’re supposed to do,” Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, said as he chastised fellow senators who, while having requested pork-barrel spending earlier this year, are now decrying their inclusion in the spending bill.

Mr. Reid challenged those senators to voluntarily agree to strip their own earmarks out of the bill, and said so far, nobody has taken him up on that.

Fox’s Megyn Kelly was not happy to hear that many Republicans have stuffed the omnibus spending bill full of earmarks. On her show Wednesday, she went after Senate

In February it was reported that 80% of Stimulus Dollars For Wind Power Goes to Foreign Companies- Including China.

ABC reported that a Chinese company is helping build a massive wind farm in west Texas. The firm will receive $450 million in Stimulus cash. The project will save or create 300 jobs in Texas and 2,000 manufacturing jobs in China.
That sounds like a good use of taxpayer dollars, huh?

Apparently, nothing much has changed.
Democrats are still giving wind farm jabs to the Chinese.

MSNBC reported:

Top Democratic fundraisers and lobbyists with links to the White House are behind a proposed wind farm in Texas that stands to get $450 million in stimulus money, even though a Chinese company would operate the farm and its turbines would be built in China.

The farm’s backers also have close ties with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who, at the height of his hard-fought re-election bid this fall, helped blunt congressional criticism over stimulus dollars possibly going to create jobs in China by endorsing a proposal by the Chinese company to build a factory in his home state. Although his campaign received thousands of dollars in donations from the wind farm’s backers and Reid stood on stage with them at a campaign event they hosted, his office declined to answer any questions about the wind farm’s organizers or their plans for Nevada.

Of course, this was after Democratic Senators promised in March to keep stimulus jobs in the US.

This should be a crime.

Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez is himself an "economic terrorist" and on Friday compared talks with the GOP on extending tax cuts to negotiating with terrorists.

During a press conference on Capitol Hill, Menendez (N.J.) took aim at Republicans for opposing his party's plan to extend the Bush-era tax cuts only for the middle class, accusing them of holding the cuts "hostage." Asked about the possibility of compromising with the GOP, the senator sounded bearish, to say the least.

Hot Mic: Dem Sen. Caught Saying Lame Duck Agenda is ‘All Rigged’

A microphone accidentally left on during Tuesday’s Senate session caught one Democratic senator complaining that the agenda is “all rigged.”

After voting on the Food Safety Act, a microphone picked up Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) complaining that the process of setting the agenda during the lame-duck session is “rigged.”

“It’s all rigged. The whole conversation is rigged,” he said. “The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck. It’s just rigged.”

In comments made to the Daily Caller, Bennet Chief of Staff Guy Cecil stood by the remarks.

“It’s something he’s been talking about from day one,” Cecil told the DC. “The whole process being rigged against having a real conversation about tax cuts, the estate tax and the defense authorization. We’re not having a lot of those conversations. It’s just a symptom of Washington being broken.”

Sen. Rockefeller’s shared some thoughts that were not in his prepared remarks today. The West Virginia Democrat gave a mini-lecture on communications and journalism during a Senate hearing on retransmission consent:

Mr. Rockefeller spoke broadly about the ways he believes television is ailing, and in doing so he singled out the “endless barking” of cable news.

He said: “There’s a little bug inside of me which wants to get the F.C.C. to say to Fox and to MSNBC, ‘Out. Off. End. Goodbye.’ It would be a big favor to political discourse; to our ability to do our work here in Congress; and to the American people, to be able to talk with each other and have some faith in their government and, more importantly, in their future.”

A serious investigation into potential vote fraud needs to be launched immediately in Nevada, after incumbent Harry Reid beat Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle by a clear five points, despite pre-election polls showing Angle four points ahead, amidst suspicious evidence of vote flipping and other dirty tricks on behalf of the Reid campaign last week that were dubbed “criminal” by Angle’s campaign attorney.

Angle clearly had the momentum going into the election, having come from behind to take the lead over the Senate majority leader.

Four separate Rasmussen polls prior to the election had Angle ahead. Two weeks before Super Tuesday, she held a 50% to 47% lead over Reid. One week prior to voting, on October 26, her lead was extended to four points, with Angle at 49% and Reid at 45%.

The race was tight, but surveys clearly showed that Angle was gradually extending her lead as each week went by.

To have a nine point swing, from Angle enjoying a four point lead just a week before the election, to Reid winning the seat by a clear five points, is highly suspicious, especially given the chicanery that came to light just last week. Nine points is not within the margin of error for polls, especially those conducted by Rasmussen, which is considered to be one of if not the most credible polling agency. READ MORE...

FRAUD! Harry Reid's Name Already Checked on NV Ballots. HERE WE GO AGAIN: More Voter Fraud From The Democrats...

LAS VEGAS -- Some voters in Boulder City complained on Monday that their ballot had been cast before they went to the polls, raising questions about Clark County's electronic voting machines.

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid's name was already checked.

Ferrara said she wasn't alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.

"Something's not right," Ferrara said. "One person that's a fluke. Two, that's strange. But several within a five minute period of time -- that's wrong."

Clark County Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said there is no voter fraud, although the issues do come up because the touch-screens are sensitive. For that reason, a person may not want to have their fingers linger too long on the screen after they make a selection at any time.

"Especially in a community with elderly citizens (they have) difficulty in (casting their) ballot," Lomax said. "Team leaders said there were complaints (and the) race filled in."

At any time, voters can go back on the screen and review their selections. They are also allowed to make changes and encouraged to double-check their ballot on screen and on paper before it is cast.

Lomax said voters need to have faith in the system.

"This election, I think, more than ever," he said. "The two sides are very fractured and each side is suspicious and we're caught in the middle."
