Lawrence O’Donnell, the self-described socialist, invited GOP Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) on his show to comment on a Democratic proposal to ban gun clips that hold over 10 rounds. O’Donnell focused his interview around one question: “Congressman, don‘t you wish Jared Loughner had a smaller capacity ammunition clip when he went to Gabby Giffords’ event in Tuscon?” Franks, however, refused to answer the question directly. And that infuriated O’Donnell.
O‘Donnell’s question, though, wasn’t as much an attempt at honest dialogue as it was an inquiry aimed at a gotcha moment. That’s because the question was a catch 22: If Franks says he does wish Loughner had a smaller clip, he’d be blasted for supporting gun control; if he says he doesn’t, he’d be labeled and angry Tea Partier who wanted the congresswoman dead. Franks didn‘t take O’Donnell’s bait, despite the tantrum-like insistence of the MSNBC host.
O’Donnell, however, didn’t leave any doubt about how he felt when he yelled, “I blame the individual for the first 10 bullets! I blame the law for the next 21 bullets that he fired!” The full segment, along with O‘Donnell’s introduction, is below:
As a final note, O’Donnell goes out of his way to quote a previous statement by Franks saying that if there was one more gun at the scent of the Tucson shooting in the hands of a responsible person. When O‘Donnel’s attempts to corner Franks on that statement fail, he claims a majority of police officer bullets miss their target. Unfortunately, he dos not offer anything to back that up nor does he discuss the context of any officer-involved shooting. Do those errant bullets usually hit bystanders? Do a majority of those shootings take place in rural or urban areas? Do they take place in a house or outside? We will never know.
As O’Donnell says condescendingly at the end of the interview, “don’t be silly.”

Just a few days after the Constitution was read aloud to open the 112th Congress, the shootings in Tucson and their aftermath have underscored both the document's central position in American life and the wish of many on the left to weaken its First and Second Amendment liberties in the name of "civility" and "safety." They should be vigorously resisted.
Leave aside the media's obscene haste to try to pin the atrocity on conservatives, Republicans, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin, whose very existence makes them foam with rage. This much is to be expected from the partisan shills at MSNBC and elsewhere.
Far more worrisome is the immediate inclination of some politicians -- mostly, but not exclusively, Democrats -- who've seized the occasion to call into question both free-speech rights and gun rights.
Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) wants to ban speech that "threatens" public officials in the interests of "toning down the rhetoric." Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) wants to reinstate the so-called Fairness Doctrine to regulate talk radio. Rep. Peter King (R-NY) plans to introduce a law banning the carrying of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a "high-profile" government official.
Make sure you tell the little kiddies in the book that because of Barack Obama, they already owe the government about a hundred G's...
While promoting his new children’s book on the TODAY show (VIDEO) Spike Lee was asked for his reaction to the Tucson shootings. I know what you’re thinking: Finally! America could barely go another day without hearing from Spike Lee on this!
Spike responded by saying that the shootings prove that the gun control laws need to be tightened in this country. While being careful to say this was “his opinion” he lashed out at the NRA and lax gun control laws for contributing to the U.S. being “the most violent country in the history of the world.”
Aside from that not at all being an opinion, but an attempt at a statement of fact, there’s one other small problem: it’s completely false.
Let‘s assume for a second that Spike wasn’t talking about bloody periods in history like the Spanish Inquisition, French Revolution, Holocaust or any of the other times when man tortured, maimed and killed each other in appalling numbers. Let’s instead give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he meant to base his embarrassingly idiotic “opinion” on some kind of actual data. In this case, I would assume that murders per capita would be a good place to start.
How does the U.S. rank? According to Nation Master (which pulls its data from the U.N.) the U.S. is 24th in the world. That means, in Spike’s mind, he could move to Russia, Venezuela, Jamaica, South Africa or Columbia and be SAFER than he is in his U.S. mansion. (Side note, if he moved to Columbia and filmed the experience it would be the first movie of his I’ve ever seen.)
If we want to give Spike even more undeserved leeway, let’s narrow the stat down to murders per capita through use of a firearm. The U.S. is 7th. (South Africa is first, with a rate 26 times higher than us.) Countries like Mexico also beat us, which makes sense to anyone who has paid attention at all to the fact that parts of Mexico are now seemingly run entirely by drug lords.
Look, I don’t really care what Spike Lee says. I really don’t. The problem is that when this kind of rhetoric is put out on our national airwaves it just might influence people to act on their misguided beliefs. Remember Spike, words have consequences.

Bill Maher looks to be the final holdout in the Blame Republicans For The Arizona Shootings Bunker. The best proof that he’s now pretty much alone is that given the benefit of witnessing the backlash and not being on the air Saturday, yesterday both “The View” and Jon Stewart figured out it wasn’t a good idea to go there and in fact went in the complete opposite direction of their cohorts on the Left, taking the obviously correct position that political rhetoric, metaphors, and obscure maps don’t kill people.
If you watch the video above, however, you’ll see that Maher apparently used his three three days to figure out a different tactic that he thinks allows him to blame the right (though not “directly,” he claims) and to keep the meme alive a little longer. It’s the age-old tactic of desperation we call ”moving the goalposts.”
In order to avoid having to explain the extreme vitriol we’ve seen on the left for over a decade now, Maher’s now declared that anyone responsible for violent and over-the top rhetoric who isn’t an elected official, simply isn’t worth talking about. He dismisses them as “nuts” who are unworthy of discussion and not part of the problem. Of course, in order to move the goalposts of the debate where he needs them, Maher is pretty much labeling MoveOn, MSNBC, the Hollywood left, and his pal Markos Moulitsas as “nuts,” but if it allows more smearing of conservatives, it’s doubtful they’ll mind.
But Maher is still wrong, though, and laughably so. Only Republicans who hold office are culpable? To his credit, Anderson Cooper busts the HBO comedian almost immediately by bringing up no less than President Obama’s declaration of how Democrats need to bring guns to knife fights. Listen to Maher, who’s uncharacteristically caught in the headlights with the question, try and talk his way out of that one:

In a move that could herald a tough confirmation fight in Senate, the National Rifle Association (NRA) came out Wednesday against Andrew Traver, President Obama's pick to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
A statement from the NRA described Traver as a friend to gun-control advocates and said he had participated in causes "synonymous with promoting a variety of gun control schemes."
The statement also says Traver helped draft a report that called common firearms "assault weapons."
Interim appointees have headed the ATF since a 2006 law gave the Senate power to confirm the agency's director. President George W. That was what Linda Smith (a pseudonym) was thinking after two thugs broke into her Oklahoma apartment. One was holding a weapon (she initially thought it was a knife but it turned out to be a screwdriver) at her throat, and the other was pacing back and forth while holding her purse and demanding her money and valuables. She screamed, and was told if she screamed again, she'd be dead.
She was doing as police recommend in robberies – comply with a robber's demands. But her Lady Smith & Wesson .38 special, which she carries by permit, was hidden in her purse – and the purse was being held by one of the attackers.
Then the situation, suddenly, got much, much worse: One of the robbers demanded that she take off her clothes.
"Come on, what are you waiting for," he told her as he started to yank on her sweatpants, trying to take them off.
Smith pleaded for her safety and distracted the attackers by telling them she would get her money, which was "in my purse."
The robbers inexplicably allowed her to drop to her knees and crawl across the floor to her purse, which the second attacker had dropped.
She reached inside, and the first shot was clear of the muzzle and into the torso of one of the attackers before she even pulled the weapon clear of the purse. Four more shots followed shortly and, in the end, one of the attackers was dead and the second was hospitalized facing a murder rap for having participated in a felony in which someone died.
Smith, in an exclusive interview with WND, explained she comes from a family that believes in self-reliance and courage.

MSNBC aired a Chris Matthews special, labeled a documentary, called The Rise of the New Right. I decided to take a quick break from my radical right wing extremist acts like bitterly clinging to my guns and my Bible, whilst fiendishly drawing devil horns on Obama photos, to watch it. I know. Apparently, I’m a glutton for punishment. However, while absolutely infuriating, it was simultaneously hilarious and almost took my mind off the distressing shortage of windmills in this country.
Almost immediately, two things became rather apparent. Firstly, MSNBC’s NewSpeak definition of “documentary” is evidently “blatant fallacies and pure propaganda”. Secondly, it’s quite clear that Chris Matthews’ leg ‘tingle’ has moved into his brain, or what passes for some semblance of one. Either that, or he’s merely decided to embrace his cuckoo pants. Plus, he’s a big, fat liar. I feel no qualms about saying that, since Matthews spent a full hour demonizing me and people like me as violent, irrational racists. In fact, the entire show could be summed up like this:

It has become clear that Elena Kagan, Obama’s most recent Supreme Court nominee, is no friend of gun rights, to say the least. While clerking for Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall in 1987, she wrote the judge that she was “not sympathetic” to a Second Amendment–based challenge to the D.C. gun ban. While serving in the Clinton administration, she wrote a memo that “paved the way for an executive order banning dozens of semiautomatic weapons,” according to the L.A. Times.
And National Review has learned that in 1996, Kagan apparently tied the NRA to the KKK — yes, the KKK — while debating the Clinton administration’s position on a bill.
The bill in question was the Volunteer Protection Act, which, when it was passed and signed the following year, protected some non-profits’ volunteer workers from tort liability in certain cases. The administration worried that it would apply to volunteers from unlikable non-profits.
Two documents discovered at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and obtained by National Review suggest that Kagan was involved in these discussions. One does not contain her name, but the handwriting appears to be hers. (You can see an example of Kagan’s handwriting here.) It has the name of administration colleague Fran Allegra at the top, and lists two “Bad guy orgs” that might be covered — the NRA and the KKK.
The second does have Kagan’s name on it; it is a memo from Allegra to Kagan. Allegra reports that he checked the IRS’s “Cumulative List of Organizations Described in Section 170(c)” — the list of tax-exempt organizations, which, he says, are the only organizations the bill would cover — and that neither the NRA nor the KKK was on it. “If you have other names you want me to run down in the Cumulative List, I would be glad to check them out,” he adds, suggesting that Kagan requested the initial check of the NRA and the KKK.
Is Kagan so hostile to gun rights that she would compare the top gun-rights organization in the United States with a viciously racist hate group? It sure looks that way. We look forward to her explanation.

Here are two ads put out by the Republican Party of Virginia. The ads focus on the behavior of Virginia Democrats Tom Perriello and Rick Boucher when Mexican President Felipe Calderon spoke to a Joint Session of Congress and advocated for reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban. He did so under the false statement that most of the assault weapons in Mexico are coming from the United States.
The ads point out that Congressional Democrats “couldn’t get to their feet fast enough” to applaud Calderon when he made his statement. The ads urge people to call Perriello or attend a Boucher Town Hall Meeting and ask them in they stood up for Calderon, or if they stand up for the Second Amendment.

Nation's most dangerous city: Camden tops the list again. The top 5 most dangerous cities have Mayors who are democrats. We're willing to bet that most, if not all of the top 20 are all run by democrats. (Get on that for us liberals, so you can justify feeling better that we might be wrong on something so irrelevant.)
The annual ranking of the most dangerous cities in the nation has again listed Camden as the worst. (We can fix this problem. Give ALL law abiding citizens in Camden, all 12,000 of them, guns! Guns, guns, guns! Then elect conservatives and watch the magic that happens within ONE year..)
The annual rankings from CQ Press are based on FBI-compiled crime data and population figures for 2008. Some criminologists say the methodology is unfair. Camden is no stranger to the top of the list. It was the most dangerous city for 2003 and 2004 and is consistently in the top 10. The bad ranking comes during a year when the number of murders in Camden has dropped amid major changes to the police department.

WHAT'S UP WITH CAMDEN NJ?
Camden is a socialistic welfare community in New Jersey, and the largest "cost-center" east of the Mississippi. Because almost half of the residents live in poverty, Camden's inhabitants have realized the only way they have any hope of being successful in life is by adopting the ideals of Stalinist Communism. The majority of Camden's residents are Hispanic or Black. Camden is also one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. If you don't believe it, then just take a stroll through downtown Camden and count how many needles and stray bullets you find lining the city streets.
This grotesque and dilapidated city lies across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, but I wouldn't advise going in the river since you'll come across a number of dead bodies on the Camden side.
In the early 20th century, Camden was actually not such a bad place, and was the home of major corporations such as RCA and Campbell Soup, but is now the huge mess it currently is because the last remaining conservatives fled for the more prosperous cities of South Jersey, or even North Philadelphia. Camden is one of the few parts of the United States without a Republican Party. Because of this, the Democratic Party is virtually guaranteed to win every election. They're doing one heck of a job, aren't they?
