The White House asked former President Bill Clinton to talk to Rep. Joe Sestak about the possibility of obtaining a senior position in the Obama administration if he would drop out of the Democratic primary race against establishment-backed Sen. Arlen Specter, the Obama administration said in a report released Friday morning.
But the report, by White House Counsel Robert Bauer, concluded that "allegations of improper conduct rest on factual errors and lack a basis in the law."
Batting down allegations that the White House dangled the secretary of Navy position in front of Sestak, the report said that Sestak was offered executive branch positions on advisory boards that were uncompensated.
One of the jobs Clinton specifically discussed with Sestak was the president's intelligence advisory board. But a White House official said the plan always was for Sestak to remain in the House, and he couldn't have served in the House and on the president's intelligence advisory board.
The report also described the Clinton conversations as informal and not tied to any precise job offer since, as a former president, Clinton could not guarantee Sestak anything.
Clinton initiated conversations with Sestakat the behest of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who was Clinton's political director when he was president. As president, Clinton promoted Sestak to vice admiral and made him his director of defense policy. Sestak was also a loyal and tireless supporter of Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency in 2008.
In a written statement, Sestak said Clinton called him last summer to express concerns over his jumping into the Senate primary, "and the value of having me stay in the House of Representatives because of my military background." READ MORE...

New Ads Hit Dems for Clapping for Calderon. This ad alone SHOULD bury the democrats in congress who gave Mexican President a standing ovation..
Here are two ads put out by the Republican Party of Virginia. The ads focus on the behavior of Virginia Democrats Tom Perriello and Rick Boucher when Mexican President Felipe Calderon spoke to a Joint Session of Congress and advocated for reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban. He did so under the false statement that most of the assault weapons in Mexico are coming from the United States.
The ads point out that Congressional Democrats “couldn’t get to their feet fast enough” to applaud Calderon when he made his statement. The ads urge people to call Perriello or attend a Boucher Town Hall Meeting and ask them in they stood up for Calderon, or if they stand up for the Second Amendment.

Free Press Policy Director Ben Scott has been named a policy adviser for innovation at the State Department.
"We will miss Ben's leadership, wise counsel, and strategic brilliance – for Free Press and the overall movement for media and technology policy in the public interest," said Free Press President Josh Silver.
Free Press is a well-known advocate of government intervention in the Internet.
Scott authored a book, "The Future of Media," which was edited by the founder of Free Press, Robert W. McChesney.
McChesney is an avowed Marxist who has recommended capitalism be dismantled.

President Obama said today he wasn't sure whether the Director of the Mineral and Mining Services was fired or resigned.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said this morning that Director Liz Birnbaum had resigned of her "own volition," though other reports suggested she was forced out.
"I found out about her resignation today," Obama said. "Ken Salazar has been in testimony throughout the day. So I don't know the circumstances in which this occurred."
Pressed later on whether Birnbaum had been fired, Obama responded, "I don't know."

TRANSPARENCY? Robert Gibbs turns into Wonder Woman; successfully deflects 13 questions in a row
It was almost like White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs turned into Wonder Woman and was using her magical silver bracelets to deflect the onslaught of questions from two reporters Thursday afternoon.
Gibbs, who only resembled the superhero in fending off the assailants (he wasn't wearing a unitard or anything), managed to successfully not answer a question although it was asked of him 13 times in a row.
An awe-inspiring performance? Absolutely. But what else would you expect from the man who called the Obama White House the most transparent in the history of the nation.
Not that it was an important question. Just if the White House tried to bribe U.S. Rep Joe Sestak to drop out of Pennsylvania's Senate primary by promising him a big honking job.
And it's not like this is a crazy rumor started by some tinfoil-wearing nut bag. Sestak himself said it. Numerous times. As recently as Wednesday on CNN.
So was he offered a bribe or not? ABC's Jake Tapper took the first shot at Gibbs.
"Jake, I don’t have anything to add to what I said in March," Gibbs replied.
Back then Gibbs didn't answer the question either except by saying "whatever conversations have been had are not problematic."

Enough! Obama Wants Another $30 BILLION in Job Aid

President Barack Obama, seeking to boost U.S. jobs in an election year, called on Tuesday for Congress to pass a $30 billion package to aid small business lending that he hopes will increase hiring.
Obama, who has been criticized for not doing enough to generate job growth, proposed the plan in February.

In a sign a flashpoint on the panel will be how to police a $615-trillion swaps market dominated by Wall Street giants, Representative Barney Frank challenged a proposal from Senator Blanche Lincoln to curb swap trading by banks.
Frank, who will chair the House-Senate conference committee, said he disagreed with Lincoln's plan to force banks to spin off units that trade in swaps, a kind of derivative contract involved in the 2007-2009 capital market crisis.
In remarks that could dim the outlook for Lincoln's controversial proposal, Frank said there was no need to force banks out of the over-the-counter derivatives business, which includes credit default swaps and other types of contracts.
