Gov. Christie Vetoes 'Millionaires Tax' In 2 Mins. 'NJ Doesn't Have A Tax Problem, NJ Has A Spending Problem' (Something Liberals Don't Understand)

'Millionaires tax' bills pass both houses, but are vetoed by Gov. Christie

It took about two minutes from the time Senate President Steve Sweeney certified the passage of the millionaires tax package for Gov. Chris Christie to veto the bills at his desk.

"While I have little doubt that the sponsors and supporters of this bill sincerely believe that the state can tax its way out of this financial crisis, I believe that this bill does nothing more than repeat the failed, irresponsible and unsustainable fiscal policies of the past," wrote Christie in his veto statement. "Now is not the time for more of the same. Ultimately, another tax increase will punish the state’s struggling small businesses and set our economy further back from recovery."

Democrats would need two-thirds majority in both houses of the Legislature to override the veto.

"This is something we're not going away on," said Sweeney. "This isn't theater, this isn't a gimmick."

After appearing before Congress and attacking Arizona’s new illegal immigration law, Mexican president Felipe Calderón appeared on CNN to talk shop with Wolf Blitzer. Blitzer, rather surprisingly, turned the tables on the president, opting to ask him instead about his country’s immigration laws, and whether they were just as strict (if not stricter) than Arizona’s. Calderón admitted that laws were stringent in the past but clarified that it is currently not illegal to be undocumented in Mexico.

Citing a Washington Times article explaining Mexican immigration laws that incriminated those who willfully participated in illegal immigration or helped illegal immigrants, Blitzer asked President Calderón to contrast those laws with Arizona’s. Calderón replied that, while the Times assessment used to be true, it is no longer, and immigration cannot be illegal in Mexico. “Of course, on the border, we are asking people ‘Who are you?’” explained Calderón, and “Once they are inside the country, what the Mexican police do is, of course, enforce the law, but any means immigration is a crime anymore in Mexico… if someone does that, we find them and sending [sic] them back.” READ MORE...

MSNBC on Thursday went on the offensive against Republican and Tea Party favorite Rand Paul. In a single day, the cable network devoted 37 minutes over eight segments to implying that the Senate candidate might be a racist.

Each piece featured a clip of Paul's appearance on Wednesday's Rachel Maddow program in which the MSNBC host suggested the libertarian candidate would tolerate bigotry because he opposes government regulation.

Throughout the day, MSNBC touted liberal guest after liberal guest to excoriate the politician. The lineup included Jesse Jackson, Democratic Congressman James Clyburn, liberal professors Boyce Watkins and Michael Eric Dyson and Democratic strategist Karen Finney.

But I don’t see how applauding a foreign leader — whose country is almost singlehandedly responsible for America’s endless immigration battles — for slamming a fantastically popular state law is a net gain in votes. They’ve already been saddled with the narrative that they can’t stop apologizing for America; you’d think they’d try extra hard here to simply sit in respectful silence while he does his shpiel rather than leaping out of their seats to grandstand. As it is, I guess they … really can’t stop apologizing for America, even when the optics involved are poisonous to their own electoral interests.

Orrin Hatch, who’s learned some lessons from Bob Bennett’s fate, fires away:
“It’s inappropriate for a head of state to question our laws, especially when the state of Arizona only acted in the best interest of its citizens and with the support of seventy percent of its people,” said Hatch in a statement.
Hatch said Arizona was forced to pass the immigration law — which compels state law enforcement officials to require proper legal residency papers from people they suspect may be in the U.S. illegally — because of the federal government’s failure to stop drug and human smugglers, as well as illegal immigrants, from coming across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Liberals Play Race Card on Rand Paul

Now that the Tea Party-backed Rand Paul has the GOP nomination for Kentucky's open Senate seat, the media and his Democratic opponent are pouncing on his extreme libertarian views -- particularly with respect to his position on racism in private businesses and whether he would have supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act.


In an interview on NPR yesterday, host Robert Siegel asked Paul, the son of libertarian hero and former presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), whether the Civil Rights Act went too far. Seigel noted that Paul has said in the past that the Americans with Disabilities Act was an overreach of the federal government.

"What I've always said is that I'm opposed to institutional racism, and I would've, had I've been alive at the time, I think, had the courage to march with Martin Luther King to overturn institutional racism, and I see no place in our society for institutional racism," Paul said. READ MORE...

Elitist Obama's Throws Lavish State Dinner for Mexico.

We were told that given the state of the nation's economy, the White House would seek to downplay the glitz and glamour-quotient of its state dinner last night. Instead, demonstrating the tone-deafness of those very large Obama ears, the First Couple put on the ritz like never before for el Presidente Diminutivo Calderon of Mexico. If someone insulted Mexico on Calderon's turf the way he insulted America by attacking Arizona's immigration law, he would have been treated to something simple--maybe takeout from El Chipolte.

Instead, the bash Michelle & Barack threw--complete with a performance by Beyonce and a guest list that included actress Eva Longoria--lavished Calderon. But perhaps that was just a coincidence, given Barack's history of insulting our best allies. After all, the dinner was yet another garish display of Obama narcissism. Michelle even insisted that they fly in a Chicago celebrity chef for the occasion! The bigger, more "special," more celebritified these events are, the more they reflect the awesomeness of the Obamas. At least that's what they hope. Sure, Michelle with her "new" hairstyle and shiny blue gown looked like a gorgeous Whitney Houston (circa 1993)...but is that what we should want in an event like this? It's not an event designed for the Obamas to play Hollywood for a day.

Of course more disturbing than any of this was when President Obama, once again, failed to stand up for America's sovereignty and goodness when standing next to the Mexican meanie.

Michelle Obama knew she was going to get a question from the kid about Arizona "requiring papers," and a little kid goofed up the question. Arizona is a tough word for a second grader but "Obama," she hears it all of the time. I don't think there's any doubt it was a setup question. Michelle's answer is the best indication to me that the whole thing was a plant because if Michelle had actually listened, she'd have said, "No, no, no! It's not my husband that's going to take people's papers. No, no! It's not my husband who's going to ask for papers. No! No! It's Arizona that's going to ask for papers and we gotta have Congress to solve that. She just answered it as though the question was asked about Arizona, not her husband. So there's no doubt in my mind.

The South Carolina Republican spent more than 25 years in advertising before going into politics, and his demeanor - from the pin stripe suit to his salesman pitch delivered with a smile - has a Mad Men quality to it, almost as if Don Draper had been thrown forward 50 years and his only client was the Tea Party movement.

NEW YORK – It was President Obama's pick for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, who hired radical regulatory czar Cass Sunstein as a Harvard law professor.

Sunstein, like Kagan, has advocated extraordinary restrictions on speech and expressed extreme views on other topics.

In February 2008, Kagan, as dean of Harvard Law School, announced the arrival at Harvard of Sunstein, then a longtime University of Chicago scholar. Kagan called Sunstein "the preeminent legal scholar of our time."

WND previously reported Sunstein drew up a "First Amendment New Deal" – a new "Fairness Doctrine" that would include the establishment of a panel of "nonpartisan experts" to ensure "diversity of view" on the airwaves.

WND also reported that in a recently released book, "On Rumors," Sunstein argued websites should be obliged to remove "false rumors" while libel laws should be altered to make it easier to sue for spreading such "rumors."

In the 2009 book, Sunstein cited as a primary example of "absurd" and "hateful" remarks, reports by "right-wing websites" alleging an association between President Obama and former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers.

A member of Arizona's top government utilities agency threw down the gauntlet in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution for the city's boycott of Arizona.

If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.

That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.

Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

Noting that a quarter of Los Angeles' electricity comes from Arizona power plants, Pierce threatened to pull the plug if the City Council does not reconsider.

"Doggone it -- if you're going to boycott this candy store ... then don't come in for any of it," Pierce told FoxNews.com. READ MORE...
