That’s the message critics are sending to Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., chairman of the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee and subject of a major ethics probe into alleged tax evasion and other violations.
House Republicans on Wednesday tried to pass a resolution to oust Rangel from his chairmanship pending an Ethics Committee investigation into a long and stinging list of alleged wrongdoing. The measure stemmed from a probe into Rangel’s alleged failure to pay his taxes and disclose income on multiple properties — as much as $1.3 million.
But House Democrats were quick to strike down the measure by a vote of 243 to 156. House Republicans refused to accept defeat of the resolution, and asked for a second recorded vote following the first. The reading of the resolution was interrupted several times, and at one point was challenged by Democrats before being put to a vote.

If people weren't so dumb in America, this alone would bury the democrats. The dems know people are stupid and 51% of America doesn't care about or research politics and corruption. ReplyDeleteWish I could say a Republican flip of congress in 2010 would help--and it would--but probably not in any meaningful way. A taxocrap-majority govt is a canoe with a basketball-sized hole in the bottom while a Republican-majority government is the same canoe with a dime-sized hole in the bottom. In other words, things are sinking regardless. Not only can the country not afford Obamarx, it cannot afford another 'half-servative' like Bush 43. If it's really true that a true Reaganesque-principled Republican can't win a national election, then screw it, this country is doomed. The States that still believe in liberty should secede. The South was no less right for having lost, and the descendants of Union government now compose the federal leviathan the Founding Fathers feared.
