The oil industry is enjoying record profits as the price for a barrel of oil soars to more than $110. Chevron posted its profit numbers for the first quarter. The numbers were tough to stomach. Chevron reported earnings of $6.2 billion ($3.09 per share -- diluted) for the first quarter 2011, compared with $4.6 billion ($2.27 per share -- diluted) in the 2010 first quarter.
The Chevron press release set off a media blitz vilifying the big oil companies. How can these oil companies be making so much money while the American people are struggling to make ends meet and fill their gas tanks. Americans are making daily decisions on sacrifices they must make to put food on the table and pay their mortgage as the oil companies are making obscene profits.
Be careful where the blame is laid in this situation. The Obama administration has laid the groundwork for this situation and it is now their responsibility to correct it without getting its hands into private industry. The problem can be solved with a simple change in the administration's policies.
If the Obama administration allows the oil companies to drill and relieve this pressure, prices will fall almost immediately on a barrel of oil. The speculators will flee oil in a second once we announce the United States will make it a priority to drill. READ MORE...

Japan currently faces a real emergency. As a result of the earthquake and the ensuing tsunami, thousands of people are dead, and tens of thousands more are missing and may be trapped under rubble, severely injured, and in danger of death by thirst or suffocation. There are over 500,000 people without shelter, with a blizzard on the way, and even the as-yet unscathed could soon face death from epidemics caused by thousands of unburied corpses.
At such a time, nothing could be more scandalous than the current campaign by much of the international press to spread panic over trivial emissions of radiological material from several disabled nuclear power stations.
Let us be clear. Compared to the real disaster at hand, the hypothetical threat from the nuclear stations is zero. The reactors in question were all shut down four days ago. The control rods have been inserted, and the cores have been salted with boron. It is physically impossible for them to sustain a fission reaction of any kind at this point, let alone cause another Chernobyl. Only the fission-byproduct decay heat remains, and it is fading fast as the short half-life material (which accounts for most of the radioactivity) performs its decay reactions and ceases to exist. At this point, the total heating power in the reactors is only about 0.3 percent of what it was when the reactors were operating. That means that a system previously capable of generating 1,300 megawatts of heat would now yield 4 megawatts thermal — about the same as that emitted by a dozen 100-horsepower automobile engines. The sound bite that’s somehow not haunting Obama Dan Andros
Remember the President Bush ‘Mission Accomplished’ controversy? The culprit was a banner on the USS Abraham Lincoln positioned above President Bush, which was meant to signify that that particular aircraft had in fact accomplished their mission.
President Bush still hasn’t lived this one down. The left went ballistic, claiming he was prematurely proclaiming an end to the war and sending a horrible message. Well, they should have listened to the speech, because he never said ‘mission accomplished’ and only used the word ‘mission’ two times. Here’s one of them:
“Our mission continues. Al Qaeda is wounded, not destroyed. The scattered cells of the terrorist network still operate in many nations, and we know from daily intelligence that they continue to plot against free people. The proliferation of deadly weapons remains a serious danger. The enemies of freedom are not idle, and neither are we.”
Kinda sounds exactly the opposite of mission accomplished, no? The left chose to distort the actual message in order to smear the President and the media followed suit. A few months after Time declared ‘Mission not Accomplished’, in 2006 CNN touted polls showing people thought the mission was ‘not’ accomplished, and Keith Olbermann mentioned it almost every single day on MSNBC.
Perhaps not shockingly the media has gone way out of their way to ignore what should be the most damaging sound bite in political history. And here it is:
“Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.” READ MORE...
WASHINGTON — Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a potential Republican presidential contender, accused the Obama administration Wednesday of favoring a run-up in gas prices to prod consumers to buy more fuel-efficient cars.
Barbour suggested that President Barack Obama wants to see higher energy taxes that would lead to more expensive gasoline. But his comments came amid a spike in gas prices that has been primarily driven by unrest in the Middle East, particularly Libya, that has diminished crude oil production. That, coupled with increased demand, has pushed prices to almost $3.39 per gallon, according to auto club AAA.
Barbour cited 2008 comments from Steven Chu, now Obama's energy secretary, that a gradual increase in gasoline taxes could coax consumers into dumping their gas-guzzlers and finding homes closer to where they work. Chu, then a Nobel Prize-winning professor, argued that higher costs per gallon could force investments in alternative fuels and spur cleaner energy sources READ MORE...

Last week on his show Bill O’Reilly asked, “Why has southern New York turned into the tundra?” and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question.
As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:
“In fact, scientists have been warning for at least two decades that global warming could make snowstorms more severe. Snow has two simple ingredients: cold and moisture. Warmer air collects moisture like a sponge until it hits a patch of cold air. When temperatures dip below freezing, a lot of moisture creates a lot of snow.”
“A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species.”

Patrick Moore, co-founder of the environmental organization Greenpeace, isn’t too hot about global warming. Appearing on Fox Business Network with Stuart Varney on Thursday, he said global warming is a “natural phenomenon,” there’s no proof of man-made global warming, and suggested that “alarmism” is driving politicians to create bad environmental policies. He also said he’s not the only environmentalist that believes like him:
Moore is the author of the book, “Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist,” in which he exposes the green movement and explains why he left the organization.
While talking with Varney, he explained that departure was in part due to the group’s “extremist positions” and it being hijacked by political and social causes as well as the left:

President Barack Obama's administration enters 2011 pressing ahead with new regulations and diplomacy to fight climate change, but it will face stiff challenges from opponents.
Cap and trade is a scam, it's a Ponzi scheme to confiscate more dollars from the American people. And it won't be the rich folks either; cap and trade will hurt the poor and middle class the most. If Obama gets away with this, Bernie Madoff should be released from prison because what he did doesn't compare to the massive theft that cap and trade will result in.
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's administration enters 2011 pressing ahead with new regulations and diplomacy to fight climate change, but it will face stiff challenges from opponents.
The year ended with modest progress toward a new global deal during U.N.-led climate talks in Cancun, Mexico, where major emitters including the United States and China moved beyond past bad blood.
But U.S. environmentalists' hopes were dashed at home, where a proposal to create a first nationwide "cap-and-trade" plan to restrict greenhouse gas emissions in the world's largest economy died in the Senate.
The Obama administration is nonetheless taking action on its own. Starting Jan. 2, authorities will consider greenhouse gases when approving emission levels for large new industrial plants.
The federal Environmental Protection Agency announced on Dec. 23 that it would go a step further starting in 2012 by setting greenhouse gas standards for power plants and petroleum refineries — which together account for nearly 40 percent of the emissions blamed for climate change.
But Obama can expect even more hostility to his climate agenda starting in January, when the rival Republican Party takes charge of the House of Representatives.
Representative Fred Upton of Michigan, the Republican who will head the new House Energy and Commerce Committee, said the United States should be "working to bring more power online, not shutting plants down" to protect jobs.
"We will not allow the administration to regulate what they have been unable to legislate," Upton said.
"This Christmas surprise is nothing short of a back-door attempt to implement their failed job-killing cap-and-trade scheme."
The Obama administration insists it is only setting standards, such as favoring green technology, and not imposing numeric caps on emissions as envisioned under most cap-and-trade proposals.
The Obama team and environmentalists argue that a shift to green energy would create, not reduce, jobs by opening a new area of growth in the troubled economy.
The world's temperature has been steadily rising and many scientists point to rising disasters — including devastating floods in Pakistan and, counterintuitively, intense blizzards — as evidence of climate change.
The Democrats narrowly retained control of the Senate and Obama remains president, meaning he can fight any legislative efforts to weaken regulation on climate change.
But several Republicans have vowed to fight a key U.S. promise in international negotiations — to contribute to poor countries seen as suffering the worst effects of climate change.
The Cancun conference set up a Green Climate Fund, to which the European Union, Japan, and the United States have led pledges of $100 dollars a year starting in 2020
Bracing for concerns about accountability, the Obama administration fought successfully in Cancun to put the World Bank in charge of the Green Climate Fund.
Todd Stern, the chief U.S. climate negotiator, said the financial pledges were "extremely important" and "a core part of the deal."
"Obviously, the fiscal situation is exceedingly tough in the U.S. It's tough in Europe and other places as well. And we are going to have to do the best we possibly can to carry out" the promises, Stern said.
As part of a future deal, the United States has pressed for fast-growing emerging nations such as China to agree to binding and verifiable action on climate change.
India surprised many other countries in Cancun when it said it would consider a future binding deal. China has reiterated its opposition but promised to show flexibility.
Despite the shift in Washington, California — the most populous state — approved its own cap-and-trade system after voters rejected a referendum supported by the oil industry to suspend air pollution control laws.
By contrast, oil-producing Texas — the biggest carbon polluter — has refused to abide by federal guidelines on emissions, leading the Obama administration to take over its permit system.
The founder of the The Weather Channel in the US has described the concept of global warming as 'the greatest scam in history' and accused global media of colluding with 'environmental extremists' to alarm the public.
The deceit behind global warming Climate change is like 'World War Three' "It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM," John Coleman wrote in an article published on ICECAP, the International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project, which is known for challenging widely published theories on global warming.
The maverick weather forecaster is known for his regular critique of widely accepted global warming theories. The Weather Channel broadcasts weather forecasts and weather-related news in the US 24 hours a day.
His views challenge the consensus of the international science community that it is at least 90 per cent certain that temperatures will continue to rise, with average global surface temperature projected to increase by between 1.4 and 5.8ºC above 1990 levels by 2100.
This increase will be accompanied by rising sea levels, more intense precipitation events in some countries, increased risk of drought in others, and adverse effects on agriculture, health and water resources.
A recent joint statement by the scientific academies of 17 countries, including the UK's Royal Society, endorsed the theory of climate change and dismissed doubts raised over the need for action to mitigate possible damage caused by climate change.
"We do not consider such doubts justified," the group said in a joint statement, urging prompt action to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
But Mr Colemen slams their views as part of a global conspiracy: "Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming."
"Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
"Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda.
"Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens.
"Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment."
He added: "I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct.
"There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril."

Idiot #1: Here‘s the full video of the first young person’s poem chiding BP and Tony Hayward. The poet’s name is Ceez Live, a 19 year-old from Philadelphia:
Guess where Van Jones is popping up now? The former Green Jobs Czar shared emcee duties at the Brave New Voices Speak Green poetry slam — a competition where “youth from around the country, ages 13 – 24, compete for the opportunity to travel on behalf of Youth Speaks to some of the key conferences and summits on the Environment to date.” The topic of this year’s event? Global warming.
As you’ll see, the young poets stayed on point. One blasted BP head Tony Hayward and made sure to include the “F” word and mock the man’s wife. Another said Bush didn’t deserve his second term, and alluded to the former President not caring about hurricane Katrina.
That’s where Van Jones comes in. This year’s annual poetry slam was held in L.A. and featured the deposed Green Czar. After the event, Jones spoke candidly about young people embracing the green movement as “social justice,” and how that’s been his plan for the last 10 years.
“To see young people, this new generation, they have a new vision for the environment,” he said. “They don’t see the distinction between social justice and the environment — they want to see healthy people and healthy planet. That‘s what I’ve been talking about for 10 years.”
He went on to call the poems and their messages “beautiful.”
What's scary about this entire display of 'eco-retardness' is that HBO sank low enough to agree on airing this pathetic crap. We're glad we cancelled HBO a long time ago...

It's people like Van Jones who indoctrinate these young kids. He's only doing a great job at making them look lazy, corny and stupid..
THE world’s leading climate change body has been accused of losing credibility after a damning report into its research practices.
A high-level inquiry into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found there was “little evidence” for its claims about global warming.
It also said the panel had emphasised the negative impacts of climate change and made “substantive findings” based on little proof.
DEBATE: IS CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING JUST A CON?...HAVE YOUR SAY HERE..
The review by the InterAcademy Council (IAC) was launched after the IPCC’s hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.
The panel was forced to admit its key claim in support of global warming was lifted from a 1999 magazine article. The report was based on an interview with a little-known Indian scientist who has since said his views were “speculation” and not backed by research.
Independent climate scientist Peter Taylor said last night: “The IPCC’s credibility has been deeply dented and something has to be done. It can’t just be a matter of adjusting the practices. They have got to look at what are the consequences of having got it wrong in terms of what the public think is going on. Admitting that it needs to reform means something has gone wrong and they really do need to look at the science.”
Climate change sceptic David Holland, who challenged leading climate change scientists at the University of East Anglia to disclose their research, said: “The panel is definitely not fit for purpose. What the IAC has said is substantial changes need to be made.” READ MORE...
Democratic House members are so worried about the fall elections they're leaving Washington on July 30, a full week earlier than normal—and they won't return until mid-September. Members gulped when National Journal's Charlie Cook, the Beltway's leading political handicapper, predicted last month "the House is gone," meaning a GOP takeover. He thinks Democrats will hold the Senate, but with a significantly reduced majority.
The rush to recess gives Democrats little time to pass any major laws. That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation. READ MORE...

Jobs?….. Who Needs Jobs? The Democrats in the US Senate just rejected a bid to stop the radical Obama Administration from further strangling manufacturing and business in the United States.
The vote was 53-47. 53 Democrats rejected a bid by Republicans to block the new restrictions on American manufacturing!
The AP reported:
The Senate has rejected a bid to stop the Obama administration from imposing regulations on greenhouse gases, giving a boost to President Barack Obama as he pursues broader clean energy legislation.
Senators turned back a resolution that would have rescinded the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
Supporters of the measure, mostly Republicans, argued that the EPA had usurped the authority of Congress to set climate policy and that the EPA regulations would increase energy costs and kill jobs.
But the White House, which threatened to veto the measure, said depriving the EPA of its ability to regulate carbon and other greenhouse emissions would result in greater dependence on oil and more pollution.
