Chris Wallace Takes Tim Geithner to Task Over Obama’s Spending

Tim Geithner was on ‘Fox News Sunday’ today and it seemed a rattled Treasury Secretary was unable to give a straight answer to Chris Wallace. Failing to explain any contingency plans that President Obama said he was investigating, an elusive Geithner only said that his plan was for Congress to raise the debt ceiling. Asked repeatedly what would happen if the debt limit was not raised by the August 2nd deadline, Geithner would not give a definite plan of action.

Mentioning the “80 million” checks written each month by the U.S. Government, Geithner would not say if any program or agency would receive priority from the payouts. Saying, “we will do everything we can to mitigate the damage” Geithner reiterated the fact that “we do not have the ability, Chris, to protect the American people from the consequences of Congress not” raising the debt ceiling.

Treasury Tapping Federal Retirement Accounts to Stave Off Default

Uncle Sam is about to start borrowing from his nieces and nephews to stave off the immediate threat of default.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has informed members of Congress that, with the U.S. government reaching its $14.3 trillion debt ceiling Monday, his department will have to turn to a string of last-resort measures so that the government can keep paying its bills. At the top of the list is a plan to suspend investments to two government employee retirement funds, while borrowing from one of them.


Geithner stressed that the move will not affect federal workers and retirees and that the accounts will be "made whole" once the debt limit is increased. But he ratcheted up his call for Congress to take action soon READ MORE...

The White House bans the reporter from future pool coverage, threatens to ban affiliated reporters if the ban is exposed

The ban is exposed.

The White House denies banning reporter, denies threatening other reporters, and apparently reinstates the reporter.
