Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says communities have a right to ban Islamic mosques.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," the former Godfather's Pizza CEO said protests and legal challenges to a planned mosque in a Tennessee city are an example of local residents pushing back.

Cain said opponents of the planned mosque in Murfreesboro, Tenn., are "objecting to the fact that Islam is both religion and (a) set of laws, Shariah law. That's the difference between any one of our other traditional religions where it's just about religious purposes." READ MORE...

Osama bin Laden was found because the United States military exploited actionable intelligence extracted by subjecting terrorists to enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs) in secret CIA prisons, by questioning enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay, and by capturing a top al Qaeda source in Iraq.

As long as some liberals remain intent on keeping political score, it must be pointed out that all three sources of these indispensible data points were direct or indirect results of Bush policies – EITs, Gitmo, and the Iraq war – that much of the American Left, including Barack Obama, fought tooth and nail. I don’t like Obama at all. Don’t trust him further than I can throw him. Still exceptionally thankful that he authorized the SEALS and Army Special Forces to do what those guys do best (bad things to bad people). But I still believe that every single decision he made in the assassination of Bin Laden was carefully calculated based upon how it polls and how it helps him get re-elected.

Which makes him scum, because those SEALS who dropped in to pay Bin Laden a little visit in the middle of the night? Their actual lives — as opposed to Obama’s political life — were very much on the line while Obama sat around in a room full of white people (The View‘s resident race hustler Sherri Shepard ought to be asking, “Where are all the black people?” here, rather than at the Royal Wedding).

Unfortunately for Obama, it looks like he’s only going to get a very insignificant dead cat bounce out of this defining moment in his Presidential legacy. Also unfortunate for Obama: November 2012 is a long, long way away. Most Americans will have long forgotten about this glorious day by then. Here's a telling nugget from an AP story on the death of Osama (thanks to Bryan Preston):

Officials said the U.S. would ensure that bin Laden's body was handled in accordance with Islamic tradition.

But why? After all, didn't Barack Obama say this tonight?

"We must also reaffirm that the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader. He was a mass murderer of Muslims."

So why is the body of a mass murderer of Muslims being handled in accordance with Islamic tradition? Aren't U.S. officials thereby tacitly acknowledging that bin Laden was a Muslim leader, notwithstanding Barack Obama's protestations to the contrary?

And if Osama was indeed a Muslim leader, what are the implications of that for U.S. policy?

There's a question no one in official Washington will dare to answer.

Fox News is reporting that bin Laden was killed over a week ago by a U.S. bomb and the U.S. was waiting for DNA confirmation.

Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, sources told ABC News.

His death brings to an end a tumultuous life that saw bin Laden go from being the carefree son of a Saudi billionaire, to terrorist leader and the most wanted man in the world.

Bin Laden created and funded the al Qaeda terror network, which was responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. The Saudi exile had been a man on the run since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan overthrew the ruling Taliban regime, which harbored bin Laden. READ MORE...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says congressional lawmakers are discussing taking some action in response to the Koran burnings of a Tennessee pastor that led to killings at the U.N. facility in Afghanistan and sparked protests across the Middle East, Politico reports.

“Ten to 20 people have been killed,” Reid said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We’ll take a look at this of course. As to whether we need hearings or not, I don’t know.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress might need to explore the need to limit some forms of freedom of speech, in light of Tennessee pastor Terry Jones’ Quran burning, and how such actions result in enabling U.S. enemies.

“I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war,” Graham told CBS’ Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy,” Graham said, adding certain speech can “put our troops at risk.”

The OIC, CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Muslims around the world are salivating at the possibility that burning a Koran or speaking critically of Islam is on the verge of become a crime in the U.S. – unless Americans stand up and fight for our very survival.
