Repub: Violent Overthrow of the Gov‘t is ’On the Table’

On Thursday, Texas Republican congressional candidate Stephen Broden said he would not rule out violent overthrow of the government if America continues down its current path.

In an interview with WFAA-TV, the Dallas Morning News reports, Broden said that a violent uprising “is not the first option,“ but it is ”on the table.”

According to both reports, the sentiment expressed in the interview is similar to ideas expressed in the past.

In 2009, Broden said that there is a solution to tyranny: “We have a constitutional remedy. And the Framers say if that don’t work, revolution.”

It was in response to a question regarding that statement that he said revolution is a viable option: “Our nation was founded on violence; the option is on the table. I don’t think that we should ever remove anything from the table as it relates to our liberties and our freedoms. However, it is not the first option.”

“If the government is not producing the results or has become destructive to the ends of our liberties, we have a right to get rid of that government and to get rid of it by any means necessary,” Broden added.

Broden has caught the media’s eye before. In 2009 he said that the financial crises was “contrived” and “set up” by the Obama administration, and compared America’s complacency today to the Jews under Hitler. In yesterday’s interview, however, he backpedaled on both statements.

But he didn’t back down on his statements about revolution. Consequently, those comments have drawn criticism from local GOP leaders. The Morning News reports that Jonathan Neerman, head of the Dallas County Republican Party, called Broden’s comments a “disappointing, isolated incident.” He said he will be discussing the matter with Broden’s campaign.

Broden, a pastor, faces Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson in Texas’s 30th district near Dallas.

NOTE- We totally support this guy...

  1. One does not overthrow the Federal government under our Constitution. It dismisses it.

Set up another government, say thanks but your fired, and start paying taxes to the new government. Starve the Fed's of money and out they go into history.

Of course, that is when you will see violence. From Federal minions.

So who are the dangerous ones again?

The French National Convention declared in September 1793 that "terror is the order of the day". The period 1793–94 is referred to as La Terreur (Reign of Terror). Maximilien Robespierre, a leader in the French revolution proclaimed in 1794 that "Terror is nothing other than justice, prompt, severe, inflexible."

Terrorism is Defined as terror of and by the STATE. Seen any DHS non-sense about that?

You probably wish you were dangerous. There's a lot of pipsqueak talk about Sedition. Maybe it makes the people who do it feel like Big Men. Go back and play Fort in the woods, Green Mountain Boy.

  4. Well as a former democrat, veteran, college grad and former union member and current business owner who donates more $$ to charity than the Obama's and Biden's combined, I would normally disagree with violence to overthrow the government. With Clinton, he was a narcissist and a radical, but he had a good advisor and a Newt Gingrich congress. With Bush, we had an an economic dope and a bad response to a terror attack called the Iraq war, with a horrible Nancy Pelosi congress. pretty bad, but not enough for a violent overthrow. BUT now we have a Marxist President who is unfit to serve, who is anti-American, who is intentionally trying to collapse the Unites States to move into a One World Government (I used to think those libertarians were crazy, they were right) and a Nancy Pelosi congress. Pelosi is a reckless, terrorist. Throw in Barney Frank, Charlie Rangel, Chuck Schumer, Mark Lloyd, Cass Sunstein, Harry Reid, Linda Solace, Elena Kagen, Sonia Sotmayor, Barack Obama, David Axelrod, George Soros, Andy Stern, CAIR, ACORN, LaRaza and all these other corrupt, communist members of Obama's administration, the media and congress and now I am all for whatever it takes to overthrow this government. And how dare anyone defend the pigs I just mentioned. If you defend them, you are seriously misinformed and stupid. We have got to do something because we can't wait until a 2010 and 2012 election so full of fraud, close races will be rewarded to the same Marxist Senators and Congressman in the democratic party and it will still help Obama destroy this country far worse than he already has. Mark my words- if not, this country is finished.
