GO POUND SAND: Florida Doctor refuses to treat Obama supporters. Tells them to go elsewhere for health care..Good for him?

MOUNT DORA — A doctor who considers the national health-care overhaul to be bad medicine for the country posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Barack Obama to seek care "elsewhere."

"I'm not turning anybody away — that would be unethical," Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. "But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it."

The sign reads: "If you voted for Obama … seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years."

Estella Chatman, 67, of Eustis, whose daughter snapped a photo of the typewritten sign, sent the picture to U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, the Orlando Democrat who riled Republicans last year when he characterized the GOP's idea of health care as, "If you get sick, America … Die quickly."

Chatman said she heard about the sign from a friend referred to Cassell after his physician recently died. She said her friend did not want to speak to a reporter but was dismayed by Cassell's sign.

"He's going to find another doctor," she said.

Cassell may be walking a thin line between his right to free speech and his professional obligation, said William Allen, professor of bioethics, law and medical professionalism at the University of Florida's College of Medicine.

Allen said doctors cannot refuse patients on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, but political preference is not one of the legally protected categories specified in civil-rights law. By insisting he does not quiz his patients about their politics and has not turned away patients based on their vote, the doctor is "trying to hold onto the nub of his ethical obligation," Allen said.

CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.

Last week, President Obama signed historic health care reform legislation into law --but his legislative success doesn't seem to have helped his image with the American public.


The latest CBS News Poll, conducted between March 29 and April 1, found Americans unhappier than ever with Mr. Obama's handling of health care - and still worried about the state of the economy.

President Obama's overall job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 44 percent, down five points from late March, just before the health bill's passage in the House of Representatives. It's down 24 points since his all-time high last April. Forty-one percent of those polled said they disapproved of the president's performance.

More results from this CBS News Poll will be released in Friday's broadcast of the Evening News with Katie Couric, which airs at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

When it comes to health care, the President's approval rating is even lower -- and is also a new all-time low. Only 34 percent approved, while 55 percent said they disapproved.

Americans are still worried about the economy, with 84 percent telling CBS they thought it was still in bad condition. However, even that high number represents an improvement: nine in ten thought the economy was bad during the last half of 2008 and at the beginning of 2009, when Mr. Obama assumed the Presidency.

Concern about job loss remains high; slightly more Americans now (35 percent) than in February (31 percent) were "very concerned" that someone in their household would lose a job. Nearly six in ten Americans said they were at least "somewhat concerned" about a job loss.

As has often been the case, lower-income Americans tend to be the most concerned about job loss.

This concern is reflected in yet another low approval rating -- this time for the President's handling of the economy. Just 42 percent said they approved of how President Obama is handling the economy, only one point above January's all-time low. Half of the public disapproves.

I am far from white and I have been to 12 tea parties. I have met some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I had some drinks with black, latino and white members of the tea party as we talked about politics, big government, corruption, debt, taxes and out of control spending. We talk about which politicians are dangerous, corrupt, incompetent, reckless, and bad for America. The politicians they were talking about were mostly white, which was no surprise to me. We also talked about what candidates we support for Congress and Senate in the November elections.

During this time, I sure didn't hear the 'N' word from anyone and I didn't get spit on. I didn't even get any dirty looks, in fact, the people were just so damn polite!

The tea partiers are supporting people like Michael Williams for Senate. Williams is black. The tea partiers also like William Hurd, who is also black and running for congress in Texas's 23rd district. I met a police officer from Florida who is supporting Alan West for congress; West is black.

These so-called 'racists' are also supporting Angela McGlowan in Mississippi’s 1st District. You got it, Angela is black..

If these people are racist, they must really hate a lot of white people!

Most WHITE people were protesting mostly white Democrats Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Joe Biden, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Robert Gibbs, David Axelrod, Dick Durbin, Louis Slaughter, John Kerry, Chuck Schumer, Henry Waxman, Barack Obama and even WHITE Republicans Lindsey Graham, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. The tea parties are not about race and it's not their responsibility to go out and recruit people of color to come to a tea party. Would the democrats like if conservatives used ACORN to encourage blacks to attend tea parties and registered them to vote republican? If more blacks don't want to attend the tea party then so be it, that's their right. The tea partiers see no color and it's not about color, it's about the American people being fed up with out of control spending, big government and corrupt politicians. Anti-Obama Billboards Appear on Metro Highways

ATLANTA -- One group is taking freedom of speech and freedom of expression to the limits in a series of Metro Atlanta highway billboards voicing strong opinions against President Barack Obama.

The billboards are the latest move to sway public opinion -- and for a price you can have your say.

The signs are in a series of four digital billboards ranging in price from $2,500 to $3,500 a month. They offer pre-packaged messages like "Stop Obama Socialism," or one that can be seen at Spaghetti Junction saying "Now it's personal."

The group behind the billboards call themselves BillboardsAgainstObama.com.

Two of the billboard locations are on Interstate 85; one is at Spaghetti Junction and one along Peachtree Industrial.

11Alive News contacted the Web site owners today via e-mail and they said they would not reveal who they are or where they are based. They said they simply rely on e-mails to communicate.

So far, the nameless head of the group says their Web site has received more than 1,800 hits and that contributions that go toward paying for the billboards.

There is no indication that any one person is paying for any one display.

The group does say it's getting some negative feedback on the Web site, but the site says the amount of money being raised to expand the program.

So far on the Web site, there are three anti-Obama messages to choose from, and contributors are given the option to create more.

Additionally, if one is born on soil foreign to the parents, that nation is likely to recognize the person as a citizen. While the Constitution requires representatives, senators and presidents to be citizens, Article II, Section 1, additionally requires that the president's citizenship be "natural born." Obama Declares War on Fishermen. 50 percent of the region’s fishermen could be squeezed out of business by the rules.

The federal government finalized the most fundamental changes in New England fishing rules in more than a generation yesterday, over the strenuous objections of many fishermen who say they will be put out of business.

The new rules, which take effect May 1, come after years of effort by the federal government and environmental groups to stop overfishing of the region’s fabled cod, flounder, and other bottom-dwelling species that once were said to be so plentiful that colonists caught them simply by lowering baskets into the sea.

The rules encourage boat owners to organize into groups that will be allocated a share of the annual quota for each species, and already fishermen who account for the vast majority of the catch in New England have voluntarily formed groups, called sectors. The system is designed to give fishermen more financial incentive to be good stewards of the sea and more flexibility in deciding who fishes and when, such as allowing fishermen to avoid bad weather.

The government is also lowering the total amount of many species of fish that can be caught.

Although some fishermen say the idea has merit, most say it is going into effect too quickly and the catch limits are too harsh. The end result, they say, will be fishermen losing jobs across New England.

“The bottom line is there hasn’t been enough analysis on these catch shares,’’ said Richie Canastra, co-owner of the Whaling City and Boston Seafood auctions. He said he fears that 50 percent of the region’s fishermen could be squeezed out of business by the rules.

About 20,000 people sign up for food stamps every day, and college students across the country are the newest demographic being encouraged to enlist.

Portland State University devotes a page on its Web site to explaining the ease with which students can receive benefits, along with instructions on how to apply. The school says food stamps are not charity but rather a benefit all honest taxpaying citizens can afford. The U.S. Department of Agriculture renamed food stamps the Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program (SNAP) in 2008, instituted electronic debit cards instead of coupons, and began an aggressive push to expand eligibility. • Over half of all U.S. citizens will use SNAP at least once during their lifetime.
• SNAP is not a charity. As a taxpayer, you are paying into this program and, when needed, you can reap the benefits.
• There are enough SNAP dollars for everyone that needs them. As a matter of fact, about 20 percent of Oregonians who are eligible for SNAP do not apply.
• Students receiving SNAP can defer their student loans while they are receiving benefits.
• Applying for SNAP is easy. In most cases, you will not have to apply more than once a year.

HERO? Army 'showdown' at eligibility corral! Top doctor refuses orders, urges Obama to show birth certificate – 'if you have one'

A top-ranking, highly decorated officer in the U.S. Army says he's now refusing all orders until President Barack Obama finally releases his long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate to prove his eligibility to serve as commander in chief.

"I feel I have no choice but the distasteful one of inviting my own court martial," said Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, an active-duty flight surgeon charged with caring for Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey's pilots and air crew. "The Constitution matters. The truth matters."

"For the first time in all my years of service to our great nation, and at great peril to my career and future, I am choosing to disobey what I believe are illegal orders, including an order to deploy to Afghanistan for my second tour of duty there. I will disobey my orders to deploy because I – and I believe all servicemen and women and the American people – deserve the truth about President Obama's constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief.

"If he is ineligible, then my orders – and indeed all orders – are illegal because all orders have their origin with the commander in chief as handed down through the chain of command."


In his video message now posted on YouTube, the 18-year veteran personally pleads with the president to stop withholding the key document which would put to rest many of the doubts that continue to linger more than a year into Obama's term.

Lt. Col. Terry Lakin is the highest-ranking and first active-duty officer to refuse to obey orders based on President Obama's eligibility.

"Any reasonable person looking critically at the evidence currently in the public domain would have questions about President Obama's claim to be a natural-born citizen," Lakin continued, stating this "troubling" information has gone unanswered "because he refuses to release his original birth certificate dating from 1961 and bearing the signature of the doctor who delivered him. This burden of proof must fall upon the president."

TheBirthers.org website was thrilled with Lakin's refusal to obey orders, stating, "This is a game changer."

Lakin is the highest-ranking officer to go public over Obama's legitimacy and the first active-duty officer to do so. Others in the military who have challenged the president to no avail thus far include Army doctor Capt. Connie Rhodes and Army reservist Maj. Stefan Cook.

"President Obama, I ask you to respect and uphold the Constitution. Be transparent and show your honesty and integrity. Release your original, signed birth certificate, if you have one, thus proving your birth on American soil, and thus assure the American people that you are lawfully eligible to hold the office of the presidency and serve as commander in chief of the Armed Forces." Waxman says it’ll cost $1.4 billion, Tom Suehs says it’s more like, oh, $27 billion. Luckily, cost projections for giant health-care entitlements rarely lowball the actual amount, so I’m thinking Hammering Hank has to be feeling pretty good about this one.

Senators — mostly, but not only, Democrats — immediately raised questions about the estimate on numerous grounds, including the time frame it covers (it starts in 2014, since state costs are expected to start growing then) and the assumptions it makes.
For example, Suehs’ estimate includes the cost if state lawmakers decide to continue and expand a rate increase for doctors who treat Medicaid patients.
With 2.1 million more people expected to come onto Texas’ Medicaid program in the wake of reform, Suehs said ensuring enough doctors who’ll take Medicaid patients becomes an even bigger issue. He also assumes the same rate would be given to doctors in the Children’s Health Insurance Program…

Suehs said he chose the time frame because lawmakes must make policy decisions for the long term.

As you’ll recall, the Lords of Progress in Congress were craftier about hiding their own rate increases for doctors in order to keep them out of the final fraudulent CBO cost estimate. And as you’ll also recall, the NYT recently warned us about enormous new expenses related to O-Care for states with huge uninsured populations, with California and Texas explicitly named. Just part of the reason why 64 percent of adults and 68 percent of independents say ObamaCare will end up costing too much.

Hank is a shining member of the 'Congressional Black Caucus of Dummies' and he is 'representing' alright. He REALLY believes that if Guam gets more populated, the island will 'flip over.' This isn't a joke, this is called 'brainwashed by liberalism' via 'global warming lies.' This guy should be banned from voting on any bills in the future.

We're going to donate $20 to anyone who runs against Hank Johnson because this guy is dangerous. He sounds like a definite 'yes' vote for the 'cap and trade' tax bill which will really harm hundreds of thousands of poor black families, especially in the northeast. Why would Hank Johnson want to do that?

Does Hank Johnson think Chicago and Philadelphia will tip over too if they get more populated?
